Taste of Polytech – Saturday, April 21
Considering NE Polytech for September 2018 enrollment? If your child is currently in 8th grade, he/she is invited to join us for a half-day Taste of Polytech event on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.at the Casket Arts building, 681 17th Ave NE, Minneapolis. Students will EXPERIENCE learning with a half-day sampler of the following two engaging hands-on sessions.
At Northeast Art & Science Polytechnic, words and phrases often take on new meanings giving student-driven projects lives of their own! Most of us become anxious and uneasy when considering a “writer’s block”, but not so at NE Polytech. Students will select from beautiful blocks of wood and use saws, sanders, drills and other woodworking tools to design pencil holders that will represent the creation of beautiful and meaningful work, one of the many tenets guiding teaching and learning at NE Polytech.
In this hands-on session, led by artist Kendra Gebbia Baillie, students will discover how artists create distinctive effects with linocuts and learn about different carving and printing techniques. Each participant will create their own relief plate and try their hand at printing. You can see examples of Kendra’s artwork at http://www.theinkorchard.com.
